ReGES – What we do
ReGES is a scientific study designed to find out what makes the integration of refugees and other new arrivals into German society more difficult or more successful – including several years after arriving. We are particularly interested in the areas of school, education, apprenticeship/vocational training and work.
We began regularly surveying young refugees and the parents of refugee children in 2018. We have remained in contact with them for several years to better understand how they live and learn. The children are now enrolled in primary school. The youths are gradually graduating from school as young adults. Many of them are beginning preparatory vocational courses (Berufsvorbereitungsklassen), apprenticeship/vocational training or a career. To learn more about the family environment, we also survey the parents of young pupils.
